Recently identified in november 2011 in Germany, the Schmallenberg virus, from Orthobunyaviridae genus, has been detected in numerous farms in Europe, especially in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, UK and France.

The Adiavet Schmallenberg virus pcr detection kit is validated by the ANSES national reference laboratory.

SBV infection occurs in ruminants by fever, loss of appetite, loss of production, diarrhoea, abortions and neonatal malformations when affects pregnant animals.

This virus is transmitted by vectors. In the present state of knowledge, it is not contagious from one animal to another and is apparently not transmitted to humans.

The AdiavetTM Schmallenberg virus PCR kit has been developed by Adiagene for the detection of SBV and an endogenous internal control in ruminant samples.

The kit is validated by uNRL ANSES Maisons-Alfort.
